Keeping local football alive

Welcome to Heytesbury FC

We are a local football team hat have been playing in the Trowbridge and district League for over 100 years.

In recent years we have experienced the loss of the heart of the club Ken Chant, who was the secretary for 50 years. We also saw many of our senior players retire. The youth players that came in found it hard to start with but are now showing what they can do as we start to climb back up the league.

The manager, Steve (Alfie) Bidgood, has been quoted saying "The football we play has changed over the last two year with pace and skill coming to the fore. The game has changed from using the long ball to clear your lines." This could be because he no longer plays on the pitch of course.

The future is looking bright for the club and we have seen may changes over the last year. We now have three other teams playing on the pitch keeping their clubs alive.

Thanks to Sustain the Plain, the parish council and local donations we were able to buy our new football posts, as the old ones were put in after the 2nd world war . I look forward to the rest of the season.
